A September Wedding at Crystal Plaza
On September 19, 2024, Marc and Ashley said "I do" at Crystal Plaza in Livingston, New Jersey. It was the kind of day that reminds me why I love what I do: a couple completely at ease, a wedding party that brought nonstop energy, and a venue that looks incredible in every direction you point a camera.
Why Crystal Plaza Is a Photographer's Dream
Crystal Plaza is a historic mansion turned wedding venue on West Northfield Road in Livingston, named for the chandeliers that fill its Grand Ballroom. Between the ornate interiors and the gardens, there's a beautiful backdrop at every turn. The venue also hosts just one event at a time, so couples have the whole estate to themselves. For photos, that means no crowds, no rushing, and room to be creative.
Getting Ready: The Guys and the Pool Table
Some of my favorite moments happen before the ceremony even starts. While Ashley got ready, Marc and his groomsmen took over a downstairs game room with a pool table. Between the jokes, the friendly trash talk over a few rounds of pool, and the final tie adjustments, it was pure, unposed fun. These are the candid moments that tell the real story of a wedding day: the friendships behind the formalwear.
The Smoke Bomb Portraits
Marc and Ashley were up for something bold, so we brought out the smoke bombs. The color drifting around them, the wedding party cheering, and a couple laughing in the middle of it all made for some of the most striking images of the day. If you want portraits that stand out from the usual, smoke bombs are one of the most fun ways to do it, and Marc and Ashley owned every second.
A Celebration Under the Chandeliers
From the ceremony to the last song of the night, the celebration was full of emotion and energy. Under Crystal Plaza's chandeliers, the ballroom glowed, and the dance floor never emptied. Our team captured it all in photos and film, from the quiet moments between Marc and Ashley to the high-energy celebration with family and friends.
